Spiced Apple Simple Syrup

One spoonful of this syrup tastes like an entire cup of apple cider. My goal was to pack as much flavor into this syrup as I could so I used both apples and apple juice. It is seriously delicious and is perfect for making these spiced apple drinks for the fall.

Ingredients:

  • 2 green apples
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 2 crushed cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Core the apples and dice into small pieces. In a pot combine all of the ingredients. Bring to a light simmer and stir constantly until all of the sugar is dissolved. Cover and simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are breaking down and easily crushed and spices have infused.

Allow to cool for a few minutes, then strain, pressing down with a spoon to get all of the liquid out of the apples.

Store in an airtight bottle or jar.
